THE OFFICIAL HOME OF
UOFT WOMEN'S FLAG FOOTBALL
UTWFF
Founded in 2010, the team received Sport & Rec recognition from University of Toronto in January 2024, marking a pivotal moment in the club's history and taking the first step on the path to achieve Varsity status.
About the League
UTWFF plays in the Ontario Women's Intercollegiate Football Association, OWIFA for short, a non-profit organization. It includes 15 women's flag football programs from colleges and universities across Ontario, Canada.

There are 3 seasons: Non-contact 5v5 Fall, Contact 11v11 Winter, and Non-contact 5v5 Spring.

The Fall and Winter seasons have two one day qualifier tournaments and a one day championship tournament. Fall 5v5s also includes the CCWF, the Canadian Collegiate Women's Flag Football Showcase, an invitational tournament held in Kingston at the Vanier Cup - with top teams from Quebec and Ontario competing. Spring 5v5s consists of one guaranteed tournament, provincials, and a qualifier tournament, Collegiate Nationals! Also known as the Canadian Collegiate Flag Football National Championship (CCFFC), it is governed by Football Canada. The top three teams at provincials represent Ontario at the CCFFC. The winner of the CCFFC represents Canada in next year's World Championships, hosted by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF).

About the Team
The University of Toronto flag team is one of the oldest women's flag football programs in the league, with a history of competitive success. We had the first female coach in the league in 2019, the first female head coach, Julie Van, in 2022, and have had a majority female coaching staff since then - many of which are UTWFF alumni.

5v5 Teams hold a roster of 15 athletes. In the 2023-2024 season UTWFF had two Fall 5v5 teams for the first time - Toronto White and Toronto Blue. Tryouts are held at the beginning of September, and the season runs from September - mid November.

The 11v11 Team holds a roster of 50 athletes. There is an annual training camp held at the beginning of January, and the season runs from January to the end of March.

The spring 5v5 season runs from April to the beginning of May, starting immediately following the end of the 11v11 season.

To be eligible to play you must be a part time student at the University of Toronto. This includes all campuses and all programs, undergraduate and graduate. If you attend a neighboring institution that does not have a flag football team, you may be on the UTWFF team as an import - with certain restrictions and extra costs.
